Alice Kytler
Dame Alice Kyteler was the first recorded person condemned for witchcraft in Europe. Such witchcraft included numerous crimes which also involved the poising of her four previous husbands. At such time she then fled from Ireland to England, but her servant Petronilla de Meath was flogged and burned to death at the stake on 3 November 1324. An only child she was born in Kytler House on kieran street which is know know as Kytlers Inn.

Totally worthwhile tour, 8 Euro each for half an hour which gives you a history of Kilkenny through Cromwells siege, the Black Death/famine and a concise history of any of the remarkable architecture. Very friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant. Visited May 2017Jamie W
